Non-Profit Partners

I believe the world can change, one relationships at a time. My vision for Modern RelationshXps is that as relationships become healthier and more fulfilling through our work together here, there will be an outpour of love and generosity that will extend beyond these primary relationships.

One way this can be manifested is by giving to organizations and movements that can reach a more diverse scope of people and issues that matter to us. I have identified three organizations that align with our values and vision. For each therapy session and each speaking engagement, Carol will donates a portion of the proceeds to these causes. Check out these incredible nonprofits, and maybe even consider participating in your own special way. Let’s lean in together and share healing, spread the love, and making the world a better place.

ONE TREE PLANTED

(International: addressing climate crisis issue)

Since I was a child, trees have been a place of refuge for me. ONE TREE PLANTED is an environmental charity, on a mission to make it simple for anyone to help the environment by planting trees! For every dollar donated, one tree is planted.

Trees help clean the air we breathe, filter the water we drink, and provide habitat to over 80% of the world's terrestrial biodiversity. They also provide jobs to over 1.6 billion people, absorb harmful carbon from the atmosphere, and are key ingredients in 25% of all medicines. Trees help reduce stress, anxiety, and play a key role in capturing rainwater and reducing the risk of natural disasters like floods and landslides. Learn more by clicking the link below.

UNIVERSITY FOOD BANK

(Local: addressing resource issues)

Our mission is to build a hunger-free Northeast Seattle by providing our neighbors with reliable access to healthy food and life-changing resources. For nearly four decades, University District Food Bank has helped prevent hunger in Northeast Seattle neighborhoods. Each week, more than 1,300 different families receive the groceries they need to prepare nutritionally balanced meals at home.

Housed around the corner from Modern RelationshXps, UNIVERSITY FOOD BANK includes 49 units of affordable housing operated by LIHI and YouthCare, a job skills training café operated by Street Bean, and an amazing rooftop garden where we grow produce for the food bank.

BOYS & GIRLS CLUB

(National: addressing disadvantaged youth issues)

BOYS & GIRLS CLUB was my mother’s saving grace and home as a child. She grew up in the projects of Memphis, TN, the daughter of a working, single-mother. The Club was the place my mom spoke most highly of from her childhood of hardship. It gave her a warm welcome, opportunities to learn and play, and a safe place to be after school.

THE BOYS & GIRLS CLUB’S vision is to provide a world-class Club Experience that assures success is within reach of every young person who enters our doors, with all members on track to graduate from high school with a plan for the future, demonstrating good character and citizenship, and living a healthy lifestyle. My mother exemplified the fulfillment of this vision and it’s my honor to continue to support their work.
